What Makes Granite Heights different from many others

Winemaker

Grown-Produced-Bottled Here

Estate Grown Grapes/Wine

Same winemaker since 2008. Keeping the same winemaker means product consistency and knowledge of what the vineyard can produce. Not many wineries have a winemaker with such a long history!

Estate Grown Grapes/Wine

For many years, all wines made at Granite Heights are from grapes grown at Granite Heights. You would be surprised that this is not the case with many wineries in Viriginia.

The grapes are grown here. The wine is made here. The wine is bottled here with our own bottler that we have in the winery.

Again, you would be surprised how many wineries cannot make this statement.

Owner Operated

We are a winery - not an event center that happens to make wine in addition.

Luke and Toni are the owners but also the winemakers and vineyard managers and run the farm and winery. It is one thing to own a winery, it is quite another thing to actually be doing everything- the laborers. There are just a very few wineries that adopt this particular approach and work ethic.

We don't use a visiting winemaker

Another growing phenomenon in Viriginia is the use of custom crush facilities and/or visiting winemakers. NOT HERE.

When you hold events and weddings left and right at the winery, it seems like the wine takes second place. WE strongly believe this is not the path to take.

We focus on the wine and the wine customer.

Nothing is more important to us.

About Us

Our Story

Our Story

Our Story

Owners, Luke and Toni Kilyk, bought the initial piece of what is now known as Granite Heights in 1997. The current location of the vineyard was saved from developers in 2007 and the first vines planted in 2009 and the vineyard has grown. Luke is a full time Intellectual Property Law Attorney and Toni is a Family Practice Physician who works for the Fauquier Free Clinic.  Our other full time job is taking care of the Granite Heights farm and our dogs and cats.  The vineyard part of Granite Heights is currently about 12 acres with each acre having 2,000 vines per acre, which is known as 'high-density' planting.

Our Land

Our Story

Our Story

Granite Heights sits on a 168 acre farm with over 12 acres under vine.

One of the tasting room buildings was built in the early 1800s.

We currently have planted Merlot, Cab. Sauv, Petit Verdot, Cab. Franc, Barbera, Chardonnay, Petit Manseng, and Lagrein.
